Human beings are sexual beings. When it comes to sex, one common misconception is that pleasure comes from the external. In this episode of Uncoiled by Flowing Grounds, Helena interviews sexologist Dr. Sonjia to uncoil societal expectations and the importance of owning your own sexuality. Dr. Sonjia goes back to basics, providing natural and scientifically-sound ways to improve sexual wellness, including using our five senses and connecting to our chakras, and the physiological benefits of sex. She also gives Helena dating advice with proven tips to heighten arousal and keep the spark alive in long term relationships - most importantly, the one we have with ourselves. After all, no one loves you like you do, and the more you do to love yourself, the more others are attracted to your authentic glow.
Dr. Sonjia, a proud Miami Beach resident, is the best-selling author of Sex in South Beach, a certified sexologist, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and founder of the CHAMP HIV prevention program. She received her bachelors degree from UCLA and earned two masters degrees along with her doctorate at Columbia University in New York. Most recently, Dr. Sonjia became a certified yoga instructor, combining her love of physical fitness and mission to help people have better sex. Additional offerings include her Yoga for Better Sex fitness class (also available virtually), SENSE aromatherapy body oil, and her podcast Sex in South Beach.
