Perhaps best known for exposing what came to be known as the My Lai Massacre and its cover-up during the Vietnam War, which earned him the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting, Sy has also reported on the US military's mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the U.S. military’s killing of Osama bin Laden. His journalism and publishing awards also include five George Polk Awards, two National Magazine Awards, and more than a dozen other prizes for investigative reporting.
