Listen Later

Singapore based musician, Tok Yathraa has received positive reviews from locals and across the country for his debut album entitled, Chapter: Pocong. Three Singles and an EP entitled, Chapter: Kuntilanak. The inspiration for his music is very unusual. He is a one-man band who focus more on true to life experiences of encountering ghosts. He plays the piano from the age of 6 and then moving to guitars and singing at 10. His love for horror books and ghostly encounters had made a huge impact on his music. He fronted, Demonification (2000-2020), a Black/Thrash Metal band, who played at Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. He was also known as Psycho Fai. He was in Ironfist (2005-2009), a Black/Heavy Metal band, who played at Thailand and Indonesia. He has created himself as a solo guitarist by releasing his own guitar solo album entitled, Hiroshima Hymns (2018). He was in a Black Metal band called Sihyr, who changed his pseudo name to Yathraa inspiring himself as a “Spiritual Healer” yet spewing guitar solos. After he was dismissed from Sihyr, he created his own persona of Tok Yathraa incorporating horror books, Black Metal, Heavy Metal while adding traditional eastern themes. He work alone on his music and lyrics playing the primary musical instruments. Tok Yathraa is heavily influenced by King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Immortal, Judas Priest, S.M Salim and M.Nasir. In May 2020, he starts his “Horror” journey by stating, Chapters: (ghost name) which will be the important point to start all EPs and Albums for the future to come.
