Welcome to the Hundred and Fifth episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi Adam Kligfeld looks at Masechet Shabbat Daf 106. Within this page of Talmud we have the laws of how to react, substantively, to the death of a brother or a member of our group of friends. And we have an expansive discussion on the laws of trapping on Shabbat. For small animals, for fish, and for birds, how trapped does an animal have to be in order for it to be considered fully trapped? Within both of these topics are wonderful ideas about how to approach our own lives more meaningfully, and how to approach debate and argumentation within the Jewish world with a greater sense of what is truly important.
Rabbi Adam Kligfeld is the Senior Rabbi at Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles, CA. He is in his 4th year in this position, after serving 9 years as the rabbi of Congregation Eitz Chaim in Monroe, NY. One of his favorite roles as a rabbi is studying and learning original text with his community, specifically during his weekly Humash with Rashi class, a version of which he has been teaching for over twelve years.
