Daily Daf Differently: Masechet Shabbat

Shabbat, Daf 97

Listen Later

Welcome to the Ninety Sixth episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi Steve Kane looks at Masechet Shabbat Daf 97. The discussion on Shabbat 97a-b centers on the dispute between R. Akiva and the Sages regarding an object thrown on Shabbat from one private domain to another private domain, through a public domain. We examine here the question of whether the air above the ground is considered a part of that ground or not-and the implications for the relationship between the earth and the air above it.

Rabbi Steven Kane is the spiritual leader of Congregation Sons of Israel. Rabbi Kane was ordained at JTS and holds a Master’s Degree in Judaic Studies and a Bachelor of Hebrew Literature degree from the University of Judaism as well as a BA from Washington University in St. Louis.

The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
