When big oil and gas companies blocked Nord-Stream II supplying Western Europe's energy, he retaliated by claiming parts of Ukraine belonged historically to Russia. Putin isn't a communist, he's a capitalist, a fierce nationalist who wants to better the lives of the Russian people. He played by the rules when he built Nord-Stream but he was challenging the Global Order and that's why Nord-Stream was blown-up. That was an act of war and you can say America's at war.
