I spoke with singer, songwriter and producer Shakka about his spark of inspiration, Frank Ocean’s groundbreaking mixtape Nostalgia Ultra.  

Shakka  really loves his chosen subject matter and is very knowledgeable about the context from which it arose. We spoke about the impact Frank Ocean’s music has had on him, but also about the roots and trajectory of Black British music.  

And we also touched on the greatness of Michaela Coel, with whom Shakka has a personal relationship and they also worked together on Coel’s series Chewing Gum.
