Light, light, glorious light    Life’s shadows are exploding   The last breath rising   Beyond every night

Keeping in mind that God is Love and deeply cares about people, how would that form our idea of what departing from this world might mean? It is a passage all of us will cross one day; an entering into glorious light. 

I remember what’s gone by   I see movement with my eye   All is I, what’s felt and thought   That’s time for me, beyond it nought

What is time? We experience it, St Augustine wrote, but a clear definition escapes us. There is a similarity between the experience of God and that of time. But a difference as well. That difference is significant and makes for a worthwhile reflection.

Aeroplanes engaged in stunt   Brute force of swerving thrust and grunt   Frolicking birds, flip-flopping sight   Of grace and elegance in flight 

The natural world makes you wonder, as does human ingenuity. Its creativity never stops to amaze. There is a difference though that must be kept in mind. Science and spirit are to be enjoyed in the way suitable to each. 

Perhaps it was an angel   Perhaps that isn’t so   Just my imagination   Not sure I’ll ever know

In Scripture angels are common, usually at special events. But how about today. I have a few stories about angels that happened to some friends of mine. Down to earth happenings that made them wonder, become amazed and grateful to God.

I found a fruit so fresh   It spoke into my heart   Left on a shelf for it to shine   And I forgot that it is mine

It is good to keep food fresh. It is good to keep important ideas vibrant. That applies to the Good News as well and doing so has many benefits. By it sitting on the shelf and going stale the benefits of its health bringing capacities are lost. It’s not hard to keep the Gospel fresh.

Downdraft talker, soft deflator   Drizzle, drip ‘n drizzle   A subtle breeze of mild despair   In my mind I clear the air 

We are surrounded by bad news and people talking things down. In keeping the spirit strong it is wise to keep things in perspective and take charge. A Tripple C approach, with help from the Lord, makes that possible and enables soul and spirit.

His return, if just I knew   A focus that is quite askew   The point is not of when he might   But when he does, will I have light?

Jesus has been expected many times over the centuries. In a world in strife, it is a topic of discussion in Christian circles also today. What is the best way of addressing his return in our personal lives?

A story about a house clean that has positive spiritual outcomes when Jesus is involved.

Living can be a messy business with aspects that spoils the wellbeing of our soul. Some negatives leave their mark for the worst while others hide in nooks and crannies that are readily cleaned out once aware. The Lord is an expert helper. 

We stand in awe of buildings great   Their wealth on full display   A voice within may tell to wait   Hear what it has to say 

When God speaks it is best to listen. Buildings and rituals may facilitate a sense of the divine but are not God’s voice as such. ‘Listen to my Son,’ that voice declared. Always, Jesus is happy to interact with us. 

I tread a path not gone before   It leads to God they say, no less   And find beyond a narrow door   The open field of inwardness

Inwardness offers many benefits. It is a path to travel that finds it full reward with the Lord. A path that leads to still waters and freedom of spirit.
