Welcome to the Podcast! Today I am delighted to be joined by Laura Beann, LCSW, a therapist specializing in Psycho-Shamanic Counseling. Laura recognizes that there are unseen resources to assist in healing and helps client discover those resources; explore the material of dreams; and reconnect with lost parts of themselves. Laura was nudged by her helping spirits to commit to a shamanic path when a powerful initiatory experience changed her life. Laura believes that accessing and befriending spirit guides provides empowerment and healing. Her own experience of shamanic healing led her to complete a three-year shamanic training and initiation. Laura’s shamanic and social work training includes Julie M. Kramer’s Three Year Initiation and Professional Training. Laura has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver and clinical training in co-occurring disorders and medical social work. Laura is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS). Today, Laura is based in Santa Rosa, California where she provides psychoshamanic work for individuals and facilitates shamanic group work and retreats. “[Dissociation] can happen with anything that is overwhelming or intense and I think it is important, especially to those who are highly sensitive, to be aware of because it’s not just perceived danger or a lot of anxiety or stress.
