For over 10 years, Shandra has been deeply passionate about social justice, particularly the fostering of self-love, confidence, and leadership in young women. This resulted in her path towards initially becoming a middle school teacher in Oakland in an attempt to address these issues. On top of teaching, She ran after-school social justice programs, co-led student council, planned and facilitated multiple weeks of gender studies for 8th-graders, led restorative justice circles for 8th-grade girls and coached volleyball.
