Hunger & Heart with Kaila Colbin

Shane Bond: “You have to present yourself with an air of confidence. If you don't, they won't respect you.”

Listen Later

Shane Bond is a legend of New Zealand cricket, widely accepted as one of the greatest fast bowlers of his era. Currently, he has the second best bowling strike rate of all time in test match cricket. He played for the New Zealand Black Caps in Test, One Day International and T20. To this day, he is the fastest New Zealander to take a hundred wickets in One Day Internationals, achieving that feat in just 54 matches.

In today’s episode, Shane talks about:

  • the difference between playing to win and playing not to lose,
  • how his training as a cop helped him cope with the pressure of international cricket, and
  • why one of his goals as a coach is not to go harder, but to soften.
