0:25-4:57 GREY AURA (Netherlands) De stem, nu als zeeboezem — A Best of 2021, I bought this album sight unseen. I knew they would be tremendous. Moody psychedelic black metal, ethnic instrumentals, hardcore and jazz creating a spectacular hypnosis.
4:58-13:55 TÓMARÚM (GA) Shed This Erroneous Skin — Tómarúm is a whip of a screech and blood of a baritone, slathered onto the entire gorgeous melodic black metal intensity and progressive storm. Guitar work is insane.
13:56-18:41 IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT (NYC) Hotel Sphinx — These guys are so strange and wondrous, their brains filled to the brim. Futuristic, dystopian, horror jazz metal, creepy effects, schizophrenic vocals, and their brand of perfectionism in gnarly explosive chaotic shards.
18:42-25:07 BLOOD CHARIOT (ME) Absolute War — Two songs of suffocating death metal fury, breathlessly racing in pace and power. Can't wait to hear a full release.
25:24-33:01 SARMAT (NYC) Serum Visions — Another insane avant-garde jazz-infused death metal from NYC.
33:02-39:03 CORPUS OFFAL (TX) Gorging Gastric Decedent — A spin-off of Cerebral Rot, bringing that filthy, festering, cavernous death back into the world, and tons of groove.
39:03-44:45 FRACTAL UNIVERSE (Paris) Concealed — Jazz being a popular infusion in metal is a great thing. Tech death with may more meditation this time around.
44:46-56:44 AMENRA (Belgium) De Toorn (Talisman) — This EP felt like taking a deep cold breath of mountain air.
56:45-1:02:48 CULT OF FIRE (Prague) Blessing — Hindu imagery and meditative, reflective instrumentals in a spiritual black metal that breaks into savagery in vocals and blistering pace.
1:02:49-END DISSOCIA (Spain) He Who Dwells — Duo in a debut. Proggy notes soaring to a vicious emo-core, and a brilliant screech of a vocal. This is a fun album.
