In every area of our life we have the opportunity to either be a shepherd or a hired hand. John 10 tells us that a hired hand runs when danger or trouble comes. They are only in it for the money (what they can get out of it). But a Shepherd is there and has an intimate relationship with the sheep (They know his voice). Are you a Shepherd over your marriage or are you just a Hired Hand?
