Sorry but... Not a serious mystery novel
This starts with a simple premise and then quickly goes off the cliff becoming downright silly fan fiction pretending to be otherwise.
It is one thing to introduce a single historical figure as a client of Sherlock Holmes in a story, and another to then place a half dozen or so characters from the works of other fiction vaguely within a hundred year span originally as supporting cast and then try to present it as a serious mystery story.
This author is no Alan Moore. The story goes from "Mark Twain consults with Sherlock Holmes" to a barrage of mish-mashing authors and characters together to move things along. The moment you have H.G, Wells showing up with at time machine you've wandered into a very different genre, and the interplay of the characters is rather amateurish on top of it all.
Hand of Despair, Doom, and Mystery
I loved this book! I especially like Pirillo s use of famous characters and their authors in his parallel universe it's a great read. Pirillo plans to combine some of his stories into new collections. I can't wait to read them.
If you're looking for a new book to read, try this one, you'll be glad that you did.
Kindle Unlimited, 'serialized'
Kindle Unlimited, 'serialized' shorter book, part 1 is The Bleak Tree, The Hollow Hand part 2 is The Ghastly Night and part 3 is Sherlock Holmes Wanted Dead or Alive: Sequel to The Ghastly Night The Hollow Hand Book 3 {I have shortened some of the full titles a bit}
Different but in a great way!
I enjoyed the book! It was definitely different from any other Sherlock Holmes book Ive ever read. I found the parallel world very interesting and I felt it made the story more interesting. To think, Sherlock Holmes in the wild west?? I look forward to reading more Sherlock Holmes in the world created by John Pirillo.
Not my favourite book by Mr Pirillo
Not my favourite book by Mr Pirillo, this is still an entertaining and quick read that will keep you amused along its 100+ pages.
