On Ask Win today (Tuesday, November 20, 2018), Best-Selling Author, Win C welcomes Sherrikka Myers. Sherrikka is the founder of Every 1 Voice Matters which is a nonprofit program designed to provide community outreach, education and support the poor and disadvantaged individuals and families of children who stutter to build proper speech techniques, self-esteem, self-confidence and improve quality of life. Growing up there were times when Sherrikka tried to speak, but nothing would come out. Sherrikka knew what she wanted to say, and her mouth would move, but she just couldn’t form the words. When Sherrikka finally spoke, her siblings would either finish her sentences or tell Sherrikka to be quiet. Having a stutter was frustrating and isolating. Sherrikka seldom spoke to people for fear that Sherrikka would expose her stuttering and be teased. It wasn’t until middle school that Sherrikka realized Sherrikka had to do something. Sherrikka remember the day she had to do morning announcements over the loudspeaker—Sherrikka could barely say her name, much less read the announcements. Sherrikka was petrified to say anything more—the whole school would know Sherrikka was different. From that day on Sherrikka was determined to figure out how to get it under control.
