Jackie Hooks is an inspiring writer and speaker, and also a dear friend. Jackie shared her Jesus Story back on Episode 4 of the podcast, and if you’ve listened to it already, you know Grief + Loss are not something lost on her. Jackie’s Facebook Live show, which airs twice a week, is currently in a “grief + loss” series as well.

Today she shares openly about how grief + loss have entered her life, the things we shouldn’t say to someone who is grieving, and why she thinks it is a tough thing to talk about in church. Grief doesn’t have a timetable, yet sometimes we find ourselves expecting people to “get on with it,” or “get over it.” And that is extremely harmful and disingenuous to the ones who are grieving.
