🎙️ Shift Three: Growing Up Too Fast

The Cost of Maturity Before You Were Ready

Growing up fast is often praised — being called mature, responsible, or strong at a young age. But no one talks about what that kind of childhood costs us later.

In this shift, I’m talking about what it means to grow up too fast and how survival skills learned in childhood don’t disappear in adulthood. We explore the pressure of being the “strong one,” hyper-independence, burnout, and the quiet grief of missing pieces of childhood you never got back.

This episode covers:

    •    Being praised for maturity that came from necessity

    •    Survival skills that follow us into adulthood

    •    Why rest feels uncomfortable after growing up fast

    •    How childhood patterns show up in marriage, work, and parenting

This isn’t about blaming the past — it’s about recognizing how early responsibility shaped us, and giving ourselves permission to outgrow survival mode.

If you were the kid who had to be strong too soon, this shift is for you.
