Shifting Paradigms in Medicine #62 - Medical Treatment for Addictions

Listen Later

Lynn E. Lytton, MD, is a 6th generation Texan who worked construction to get through Rice University, then got a Master's in Human Factors at Ohio State, just in time for a stock market crash. Stock Market crashes tend to complicate things, and as a result, she worked in a cabinet factory and as a commercial artist, then in IT at UT Austin before going to medical school at Texas Tech. She also studied core shamanism, aikido, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She runs her practice in Austin, Texas, treating addiction as well as chronic pain. Her approach is informed by her background in psychology and trauma treatment, and she is dedicated to making recovery as free from obstacles or shame as possible. The point is to make recovery as gentle a process as possible and to set up patients to succeed instead of failing.
