Shifting Your Identity and Amplifying Your Life with Ollie Gabriel

Listen Later

Today’s conversation is with Ollie Gabriel. Ollie was born and raised in Louisiana, joined the army at 17 following 9/11, and has worked as a producer and writer with stars such as John Legend, Mel B (Spice Girls), Keke Wyatt, En Vogue, and The Jacksons to name a few. He landed his first radio hit as an artist with his motivational debut record "Running Man", which reached the top 10 across Europe.

In 2019, he was featured on the hit NBC series Songland, and subsequently landed his first TOP 40 Billboard charting hit with the soulful R&B love song "Something New". Later that year, he reached the Australian chart again with the electronic dance record collaboration, "All of US", proving his ability to seamlessly cross genres and solidifying his position as an international music force. Beyond his music, Ollie is dedicated to making a positive impact. He's worked with the Boys and Girls Club, LA Mission, and high schools for many years to inspire young people.

In 2022 he set on a transformative 635-mile walking pilgrimage across Spain that took him 35 days. Inspired by the journey, he created an innovative media coffee table book to support Hope to Walk, a non-profit organization that provides free prosthetics to amputees in need.

Here’s what we talk about…

  • How to push through imposter syndrome…
  • Ollie’s transition from the Army to Las Angeles after signing a record deal…
  • The culture shock of moving to California after growing up in a poor town…
  • How to shift your identity after attaching to your past for so long…
  • How to have the courage to let go of your career…
  • Much more!
