BELONGING
In the early days of the Soviet Union, Marxism took the leaders
down a path that said the family was nothing—the State was everything.
So they experimented. They took children away from their parents and
raised them in a kind of commune. The experiment died away because the
children grew up with more problems and fewer securities. Why? They
didn’t belong.
Oddly, what has been demonstrated as a disaster in this
experiment, many of us unwittingly embrace now. No, not in sending our
kids away from our family. Rather, we ourselves don’t make a
commitment to belong in a church family. We choose to be spiritual
orphans. The results are in. No commitment, no health.
Belong!
