Becoming a Devout Lily Everett Fan
I was introduced to Lily Everett's stories when I attended RWA Nationals and walked away with a signed copy of Sanctuary Island as my holy grail of the event. I'd heard about the setting of the series, which immediately made me think of my beloved Chincoteague Island and simply had to have a copy. I devoured that first book, and did the same with Shoreline Drive.
Without recapping the entire story, I will say that the aspect I found most satisfying was Ben and Merry's interactions. Their core relationship stayed true from beginning to end. Ben is a grouch (for good reason), and I appreciate that he remained Ben, that Merry remained Merry, and the two accepted each other without demanding a total transformation in character. That right there makes the love story feel so true and satisfying. I eagerly await the next installment in the series.
Good romance without sex
Easy reading romance featuring Merry and Ben. Merry is pregnant and moved to Sanctuary Island to reunite with her mother. She is happy-go-lucky always smiling. Ben is the island vet who has lived on the island, for a few years, to escape a secret and his wealthy overbearing parents. He does not express emotions and is rather blunt. After Ben delivers Merry's boy, he proposes a marriage of convenience which Merry accepts. They are working through the arrangements agreed to when Ben's parents suddenly appear with Merry's ex-boyfriend. How will it turn out with her ex-boyfriend wanting the opportunity to get to know his son and Ben afraid he will lose both Merry and her son which is all he has every wanted? Good romance.

SPOILER ALERT ~~~~ Wonderful story covering a gamut of human emotions ! Thanks Lily Everett. A few things missing tho, why no dogs in this story, other than on the outskirts, as Bens a Vet. Would have been great to have a dog as one of the family. I felt frustrated that Ben didn't end up adopting Alex.
