The story of Eros and Psyche appears in a single text: "The Metamorphoses" by Apuleius, believed to have been written between 160 and 180 AD. In this novel, the myth of Psyche and her quest for the heart of Eros is a story within the story. An old woman narrates it to a young girl. For this reason, it is believed that the author drew inspiration from an oral tale.
