Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé embark on their first vacation to Marrakech. Over there, after several days of rain, as the sun reemerges, they experience something profound. An aesthetic shock washes over them as they feast their eyes on the lush gardens and ochre-hued houses, nestled beneath the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. They feel incredibly at peace, listening to the birds' melodies and inhaling the scent of jasmine. They immediately decide to purchase a house there and return several times each year.
