[Shorts] Javelinist Arshad Nadeem recruited by Pak Army to oversee LOC

Listen Later

Pakistan failed to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics stretching its medal drought which began in 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics but had a glimmer of hope this time around. 24-year-old Arshad Nadeem had become the first-ever track and field athlete from Pakistan to qualify directly for the Olympics and also the first Pakistani to qualify for the final round at a track and field event.
The javelin thrower ended up 5th in the standings despite, throwing an impressive 84.62 m, while all the thunder and glory was taken away by 23-year-old Neeraj Chopra from India who won the gold. Neeraj Chopra is a soldier in the Indian Army and is set to be felicitated by multiple organizations upon return to India.
Arshad’s heroics did not go unnoticed in Pakistan with the whole nation backing him up during the event. A fake viral tweet of him congratulating Neeraj Chopra also brought him some of the limelight. All this grabbed the attention of the Pakistani Army as well who is known to be the most powerful administrative body in the country.
Our sources tell us that the Pakistani Army has decided to appoint Arshad Nadeem as a Captain in the Army. This move is said to ensure that Arshad gets all the training and diet required to ensure victory in the next Olympics. Captain Arshad’s first posting will be along the LOC where he will use his skills to launch projectile drones and explosives across the border and also provide enough distractions for insurgents to cross over.
