In its race to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2045, California has begun moving forward with plans to build 4.5 GW offshore wind farms. Is this the best way to achieve this goal?
Case For:
1- Offshore wind farms can generate a significant amount of renewable energy
2- Offshore wind farms produce energy when it is needed most
3- Offshore wind farms don’t use land or block the view
Case Against:
1- Offshore wind energy is very expensive
2- We currently lack the infrastructure to build and operate these wind farms
3- Offshore wind farms will hurt the environment and fishing industry
What do you think? Should California Build Massive Offshore Wind Farms?
