During the past 10 years or so, many descendants of slaves began to petition their respective governments for restitution for what their ancestors went through. These descendants believe that because their ancestors where taken from their homes of origin, that the blood of that ancestor should be paid by the government for the past turmoil. Whether this is right or wrong can be argued by both sides in which they both have that right. However, what is the main reason for people believing that they deserve this? Is it because their ancestors suffered or is it the ideology that they don’t have to work to make it in this world? Either way, this is a conversation that has to be had. Slavery was and still is a bad thing. But should tax payer’s money go to this and if so, how much? In this podcast, Austin and John will discuss the problems and reasoning behind these ideas and why there isn’t a valid argument to give or not to give restitution.
