College graduates weighing job offers from a startup versus a large tech corporation often ask me which one is better. People feeling stuck in large corporations are thinking whether or not they would do better in a startup. Essentially, large companies offer a structured environment with clear roles and responsibilities, a steadier compensation package, and the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals. A startup, on the other hand, can offer more excitement with opportunity to contribute more to the company success and a possible financial upside if the startup is successful. Other factors (company culture, success, products, etc.) might have larger impact on your experience, compensation, and learnings, so my advice is not to get caught up on the small vs. large company debate.
