The federal government on Monday declared a water shortage on the Colorado River for the first time, triggering mandatory water consumption cuts for states in the Southwest, as climate change-fueled drought pushes the level in Lake Mead to unprecedented lows.

This picture below shows the Hoover Dam on June 9 2021 where you can seethe difference between the height of the water today then how it was 20 years ago.

The last time these dams had flowing water through them was in 1983!

The reservoir generates electricity and supplies water to about 25 million people across tribal lands, farms and major cities
