Have you thought about getting a Master’s degree just because you don’t know what to do with your career next? STOP and listen to this episode before you spend $100k on Grad School!
This week on Embrace the Squiggle Colleen and Kristine speak with Melissa Vining about her career squiggles from professional musician, to masters student, to career coach.
Melissa Vining is a career coach, learning designer, and parent of two (1 dog + 1 human!). She started her career as a freelance flutist and music teacher, and quickly realized that was NOT a sustainable career. Fast forward 1 expensive master’s degree, 20+ terrible jobs, and 8 frustrating years later, she finally landed in career coaching, and everything clicked. Now, she’s on a mission to help her clients find their fit—where they are fully appreciated for their unique strengths and contributions (AND thriving in workplaces that align with their values!).
In the episode they cover why kids shouldn’t have career plans yet, what it’s like being a music teacher, deciding to do a masters degree, job hopping, and working as a career counselor.
