Time and time again, we've seen and heard stories of picking up scrap for free (with the intention of the payday being the scrap value), but then being blindsided by the difficulty of the pickup: a heavy washing machine in the basement or a brass bed frame up on the 3rd floor. Keep in mind your time is money and that you should absolutely be charging a reasonable fee for scrap metal pick-ups.
