Pre OT Secrets

Should You Consider Occupational Therapy for Your Family Part 2 with Diamond Rashad

Listen Later

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs since you have to take care of a child who needs everything. How do you adjust mentally when your child is born? How can you change your daily habits or modify your lifestyle in order to improve your mental health even after giving birth? What can you do to stay healthy without sacrificing the little one's needs?

This week’s Pre OT Secrets, Jesica Lopez will interview Diamond Rashad. Diamond is a pediatric occupational therapist located in Savannah, GA, with over five years of experience in early intervention and outpatient pediatrics. She serves as the local coordinator for Postpartum Support International and invests in outreach opportunities for black students who are underrepresented in the occupational therapy field. She is passionate about serving the community and bringing light to the intersectionality of race and disability.

They will touch on such topics as:

  • Supporting infant’s mental health by focusing on the parents' lifestyle and environment change in their home to help them improve their quality of life.
  • How to bring emotional and practical support to pregnant parents throughout their pregnancy?
  • We are bringing education and information regardless of being in a clinical setting, an online virtual setting, and the whole community of Pediatric OT.
  • Do not just mimic yourself to the people in your area.
  • How to focus more time on yourself while having your children?
  • Technology and social media have so much power to make a difference in the world.
