There are so many benefits to fasting, however not every body is ready for fasting and it can actually make things worse if not done correctly. The biggest mistake I see with fasting is jumping into it from a depleted place or exercising fasted when the body is not primed.  Many women are told that fasting is a quick way to weight loss.
