* Marvel's Doctor Strange opened with 84.9 million, right behind Thor: The Dark World's opening of $85 million. It's Marvel's 10th largest opening domestically. It did $118.7 million in the international markets. The film has high marks with both fans and critics but did receive criticisms from actor Lewis Tan who has been cast in Marvel's upcoming Iron Fist series on Netflix. Tan says he was unhappy with the casting of Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. Tan says white-washing of Asian characters in cinema has become more common. Matt Damon's upcoming film The Great Wall has received similar criticism.

* Rami Malek is in final talks to star as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody directed by Bryan Singer. He replaced Sasha Baron Cohen in the role.
* Tippi Hedren claims legendary director Alfred Hitchcock sexually assaulted her. Hedren starred in Hitchcock's classic The Birds and it's less than pouplar follow-up Marnie where she claims the incidents occurred.
* James Cameron talks about pushing the technological envelope with his upcoming Avatar sequels.
* Rick Famuyiwa has exited as director on the Flash.
* Bradford Young the cinematographer of the upcoming Han Solo film says he's surprised how much freedom directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been given to put their own spin on the iconic character. He says he was told by the directors that Disney has been supportive and has encouraged them to make the film their own by breaking rules.
* Junkie XL has announced that he will not be scoring Deadpool 2 because of the exit of director Tim Miller.
*Keeran Hinds has been cast as Steppenwolf in Justice League. His most notable roles are Mance Rayder, "The King Beyond the Wall" in Game of Thrones and Julius Caesar on HBO's Rome.
* Universal announces that it's moving forward with a live-action adaptation of Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It was revitalized on Netflix this year as an animated series.
* Fox has announced that it's renewed the Simpsons for a 29th and 30th season with all the voice talent returning. At the end of season 30, The Simpsons will dethrone Gunsmoke as the longest running television series and will also beat Gunsmoke's episode count 669 to 635.
