* Alien: Covenant is almost in theaters. Weeks ago Sir Ridley Scott said he has many ideas to do several more movies that fit into the franchise and he's open to using CGI to de-age Sigourney Weaver to reprise her role as Ellen Ripley.
* Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of Lucasfilm says that we should expect an announcement this summer as to where the Star Wars franchise will be headed after Episode 9. At Celebration last weekend she said that they're still finalizing their plans so the announcement will either come at San Diego ComicCon or more likely Disney's media conference D23.
* Oscar Issac talked about working with Carrie Fisher and a scene that happens with the two of them.
* Sylvester Stallone's role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has been revealed.
* Indie film directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have landed their largest production to date by being named as the directors of Captain Marvel.
* Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige has given his blessing to Joss Whedon moving on to make a Batgirl movie.
* Movies may be out for decades but news still rises to the top over the years.
* It was rumored that Will Smith was being eyed for Disney's live action adaptation of Dumbo but he's now rumored to be the top pick to play The Genie is Disney's live-action take on Aladdin.
* ABC Freeform formally known as ABC Family announces to Marvel superhero shows coming to that network. The first is Cloak AND Dagger - the trailer dropped this week and The New Warriors that will be a half-hour comedy that features popular Marvel character Squirrel Girl. No word yet is these shows will tie into the Netflix, Agents of SHIELD and Inhumans continuity.
* In addition to being tied to Guardians of the Galaxy, Zoe Saldana is tied to another huge franchise named Avatar. She said in a press tour that table reads and rehearsals will start in June.
* The X-Files has been renewed for a 10th season that will air 10 episodes between 2017 and 2018. The property has picked up steam as of late. There's also been an announcement of an audio book series that will feature the original cast that includes Mulder, Scully, Director Skinner and The Lone Gunmen.
