From the early 70’s through the late 90’s, James Simon has traveled through Europe, Africa, Australia, North America and South America. From hitchhiking, to hopping rails cars to air travel, James spent nearly 3 decades experiencing this earth’s peoples and cultures. This journey brought him to complex art of violin making. And his travel experiences are also infused in his sculptures and mosaics. A ‘public artist’, James creates his work in large scale in his studio in uptown Pittsburgh.
