Ruffed Grouse Society forest wildlife biologist Jim Woodford shares advice on managing forest lands for grouse and whitetails and says private landowners can do both through the Wisconsin DNR Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP). (https://ruffedgrousesociety.org/, https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/WildlifeHabitat/DMAP.html) Steve Lemenov, marketing director for Armasight, returns to tell hunters, hikers, campers and others how thermal vision rifle scopes and monoculars can make their hunting, camping, scouting, and other outdoor activities more enjoyable at night and during low-light conditions. (https://armasight.com/) Wisconsin DNR forester Ron Weber warns hunters to be careful with fire this weekend because dry conditions, warm weather, and high winds increase the risk of wildfires. Weber also shares an essay about how deer hunting has changed for him now that all his brothers have died. (https://wisconsinlife.org/story/looking-back-to-move-forward-a-hunt-to-remember/) In the Madison Outdoors Report, pro angler Duffy Kopf says bass, walleye, pike, muskie and panfish action is still good on the Madison lakes, but anglers must adjust to conditions as fish move deeper and change behavior as the water cools down and ice-up approaches. D and S Bait, Tackle and Fly Shop will be closed Nov. 11-24. (http://www.dsbait.com/)
