SIBT 8: DIY Hair Care

Listen Later

Emerging from their self-quarantine, Jess and Gavin return to the microphones for another episode of SIBT after some time away. It’s not entirely known whether this short break from SIBT was because of COVID-19 or Gavin playing Animal Crossing excessively...

Speaking of the greatest game ever made, Gavin talks about how the normalcy of everyday life has been transported to deserted islands where people spend the days chopping wood and collecting rocks. Nowadays, people don’t meet in real life to hang out, rather they fly to each other’s islands in order to socialize through cute avatars and carefully placed furniture.

On the other hand, Jess has been using this time to work on her cooking abilities. Over the past week, she has made an assortment of delicacies such as bao, noodles, pizza, and tortillas. Jess claims perfecting her cooking is in line with her ultimate goal of achieving “grandma status.”

While Jess and Gavin work from home throughout the day, we mention how “you know you’re an adult when” you actively limit your screen time. Sitting in front of a computer for hours a day is extremely poor for one’s health, and we should take advantage of working from home to stretch and exercise as often as we can. For Jess, a break from the computer means preparing food. Gavin compares quarantined life to Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.

Continuing on with Gavin’s passion for Animal Crossing, he suggests buying a Nintendo Switch so that Jess can join him on a deserted island. Indeed, the ultimate couple’s getaway can be achieved by spending countless hours fishing, growing plants, and catching butterflies. What does Jess think about this? Tune in to find out. Gavin also talks about the recent situation surrounding the Switch’s worldwide production.

Jess suggests buying oil for her hair to combat dryness. She is hesitant to buy products during this time because of prolonged shipping times. Jess also brags about cutting Gavin’s hair and how she would charge someone $100 for a simple shave. Is Jess on one? We’ll let you be the judge.

In the Quick Buys section, the hosts talk about low cost activities for families who are being quarantined in their homes. This is very timely for everyone who should be staying at home right now! Stay safe, and enjoy the episode.
