Sidney Poitier was a Bahamian-American actor, film director, and ambassador. In 1964, he was the first black person and first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. He died in January 2022 at 94. I am honoring his legacy by reflecting on how his movies entertained many and caused others to think.
