In 2022 I set out to find a pistol that I could both conceal carry and use as a primary home defense pistol. Of all the pistols I tested and trained with, the Sig P365 X Macro became my everyday pistol. This is my Sig P365 X Macro review. Some Background In 2022 I really started to focused on pistol training for self defense purposes. After shooting several pistols, some more extensively than others, I still found myself without that “do everything” type of pistol that I was in search of. What I was looking was that “do everything” pistol that can be for conceal carry purposes and so can be relied upon in case the SHTF. My goal was to find that pistol that felt like it belonged. Do you remember how you felt when you met your soulmate? That’s kind of what I am talking about here. A pistol that feels like it’s part of you when you shoot it. Everything come naturally and nothing feels “off”. For me, it’s about being as practical as possible. I’m not a big collector and I haven’t shot hundreds of models of pistols. My reasons for purchasing the Sig P365 X Macro were simple. I needed a pistol I can legitimately carry everyday, a pistol that I could go to battle with if the time every came and a pistol that would perform well. While many shooters are looking for a competitive edge for competition, I’m looking for the competitive edge for self defense and SHTF. While some of the pistols that I trained with in 2022 were amazing firearms, they weren’t that soulmate that I was looking for. Some of them almost made the cut, but in the end the P365 X Macro was it. The P365 X Macro Review This is a prepping website [1] and I generally focus on things that will be assets to my prepping life style. In this P365 X Macro review I am going to talk about what I know and have learned with the P365 X Macro. P365 X Macro: Dimensions and weight The Sig Sauer P365 X Macro is one the most popular pistols to be released in 2022. The pistol is a larger variant of the Sig P365 series sporting a 17 round magazine, stock X-Ray3 sights and an M1913 (picatinny) rail system. Coming in at 6.6 inches long with a height of 5.2 inches tall and a weight of 21.5 ounces, the Sig P365 X Macro sits right between a sub compact and compact pistol size. It’s not small enough to be a true sub compact pistol but it’s also not larger enough to be considered a compact size either. P365 X Macro: Slide and optic cut What is interesting about this pistol is that it has a compensator built into the slide. Sig Sauer claims that this compensator reduces recoil by 20% but I can’t say for sure that this number is accurate. When compared to my Glock 43 I do know for sure that I have much more control when shooting the Sig P365 X Macro. However, at the end of the day I’m only worried about hitting the target during a stressful situation so shooting quarter sized groups isn’t super high on my priority list. One of the featured that drew me to the P365 X Macro is the fact that the slide is pre-cut for an optic but also comes with X-RAY3 Day/Night sights that you can use before you purchase a pistol optic. I ended up going with the Holosun 507K Pistol Optic for my X Macro. Many customers have experienced trouble getting the screws off the optic cover plate and I recommend that you have the gun store loosen them up for you before you leave the store. The screws on my X Macro weren’t in super tight but I’ve read a lot of people having issues. As for co-witnessing with a red-dot on the X Macro, the stock X-Ray3 sights do co-witness just fine in the event your optic stops working or runs out of batter power. P365 X Macro: Trigger configuration In addition to the built in compensator the P365 X Macro also sports a Striker trigger configuration with a flat trigger. The grip has modules to customized the fit for several hand types and the slide is optic ready. P365 X Macro: Grip The P365 X Macro comes with interchangeable modules for the grip. This lets you customized the grip for your individual hand size. I have larger hands and one of the first things I noticed is that my hands fit around the entire grip and there was no need for a magazine extension. After installing the larger grip module the pistol felt super secure, like it belonged in my hands! Another cool feature about the Sig P365 X Macro (and all modern Sigs) is that you can actually replace the entire pistol frame. This means you can fully customized the X Macro making it an entirely customized pistol without having to go through back-ground checks and all those headaches again. As someone who feels most comfortable with a full size pistol grip I can say without a doubt that the P365 X Macro grip with the larger grip module is comparable if not the same. First 500 Rounds I have to say, Sig Sauer [2] did an excellent job with the P365 X Macro. After sighting in the Holosun 507K optic I started putting significant rounds down range. Of the first 500 rounds the first half was shot at paper targets and the second half was shot at steel targets. Being that I was most accurate and proficient with my G19 I was surprised at how much more proficient I was with the P365 X Macro. Suspicious of a “honeymoon period” I decided to hold off on writing this review until I had time to have a good mixture of good shooting days and bad shooting days. After an extended period of time shooting the P365 X Macro I can say that from the very beginning I felt more confident and more proficient that with any of my other firearms. The P365 X Macro just feels like it is part of me, like an attachment of myself, like (I know it sounds corny) a soulmate. The grip, the feel, the weight, the optic, everything about the X Macro just feel right. Summary Overview In summary I would like to point out that after shooting and training with four other pistols throughout the year, the P365 X Macro has become my favorite. I have since sold my P320, G43 and SW1911 because I do not feel need to have more than two personal firearms. This leaves me with the G19 Gen3 and the P365 X Macro. A lot of people get wrapped around brand names and opinion. As a prepper I'm focused on what works and what is going to be a true asset. If a pistol can meet my requirements and perform the way I expect it to perform, brand doesn't matter. One thing that I do like about with the Sig P365 X Macro is the fact that it is made right here in the USA. It's hard finding quality products from the U.S. and it's nice to know that Ssome of the most important tools we'll use as preppers is made here.
