Johan Ericson explicó el significado exacto del nombre de la banda en una entrevista:

"La pregunta más común que me hacen, jaja. "Domus" es la palabra latina para "casa". Le añades otra "o",

Doomus, "Casa de la Perdición". Los dos puntos están ahí porque también puede significar Perdición = Nosotros,

donde "nosotros" se refiere a la humanidad. Escribir la U como una V es solo para que se vea mejor.

De joven también me gustaban los discos antiguos de Blue Öyster Cult, que también tenían esta ortografía

en algunos discos, y me parecía que quedaba bien".
