The traditional job is losing its hold, and the harder question now is what gets built in its place.
Josh Drean is a workforce futurist, HR transformation expert and co-author of Employment Is Dead. He is also co-founder of Decentrive, a decentralized peer-to-peer work platform. Continuing his conversation with host Marcus Mossberger, Josh argues organizations should build a new job architecture around skills instead of preserving the old one. He questions whether a four-year degree still fits how fast skills change, and says creativity and the ability to build now count for more than knowledge alone. Josh redefines the AI dividend as ownership, saying employees want a share in the value they create. He describes managers as caught between demands from leadership and burnout on their teams, and outlines decentralized autonomous organizations as one model for team decision-making without traditional management. Marcus adds that human collaboration and trust become more important as AI takes over administrative work. Josh's advice to CEOs is to understand AI before rolling it out and to rebuild trust with employees. Listeners come away with a clearer approach to AI adoption, skills-based hiring and employee retention.
For HR and finance leaders deciding how work should be organized as AI changes what teams do.

🎙️ Listen next: Is Work Broken? The Future of Employment in the Age of AI #01
The promise of a stable, long-term career is breaking down, and AI is speeding up the question of what replaces it.
Josh Drean is a workforce futurist, HR transformation expert and co-author of Employment Is Dead: How Disruptive Technologies Are Revolutionizing the Way We Work. He is also co-founder of Decentrive, a platform built on the idea that people don't need a traditional job to do great work. He tells host Marcus Mossberger the traditional employment model is failing employees and companies at once. Companies are measuring AI productivity with desk-time metrics, and few can show a return. Cutting entry-level roles breaks the talent pipeline just as more than half of today's C-suite is set to turn over within a decade. Josh argues skills-based hiring and internal talent marketplaces are already replacing fixed job titles, and pay should move toward output. Marcus raises the healthcare gap facing portfolio careers, which Josh calls a systemic failure. Listeners come away with a clearer view of AI and jobs and the workforce planning ahead.
For CHROs and CFOs planning for what comes next as the old employment model runs out of time.
