Nunez’s work presents life and dying as inherently chaotic processes, often defying expectations. Her writing illustrates the tension between control and uncertainty, especially in end-of-life decisions and humanity’s failure to face grim realities. Her 2020 novel,What Are You Going Through, was adapted into Pedro Almodovar's 2024 film titled, The Room Next Door, starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore.
