Sikh Heritage Month

Listen Later

In this special episode, we're diving into Sikh Heritage Month. Facilitated by Harpinder Kaur, a community partnership developer, and joined by colleagues from YRDSB who share both their Sikh identity and their passion for education. Together, they're members of the Sikh Educators Voice Alliance, also known as SEVA.

Joined by Harpinder, is Kirandeep Mann, French teacher at Blue Willow Public School; Simranjit Goraya, grades five and six teacher at Red Maple Public School; and Amrit Dhaliwal, serving as Vice Principal at Kleinburg Public School.

As we delve into the essence of Seva, a concept deeply rooted in selfless service, our conversation unfolds into the significance of educator-student relationships, cultural nuances, and the power of amplifying Sikh voices within our communities. From the sacred bond between teacher and student to the importance of fostering unity and presence through the Sikh Educators Voice Alliance, we explore the intricacies of identity, advocacy, and belonging.

Join us as we celebrate Sikh Heritage Month and embark on a journey of reflection, dialogue, and empowerment. Tune in to discover the rich tapestry of Sikh culture and the invaluable contributions of our esteemed guests to education and beyond.
