There are a number of contemporary mystics who lived among us in the 19th and 20th century. And I would like to take their wisdom in dealing with this particular subject.
Two and a half millennia after Lau Tzu, and the century before Le Guin and Barry, Khalil Gibran who lived between 1883 and 1931 and was the great philosopher, poet, of the highest order and most timeless in his outpouring of wisdom, and he addressed the relationship between silence, solitude, and self-knowledge in a portion of his 1923 Classic “Prophet”.
