Imani loses her father to cancer and she moves to New York City where she meets a rising Williamsburg hipster art star. As a Greek African American woman, she reflects on her upbringing and young adult life in a world that easily combines prejudice with privilege. Things take a downward turn and Imani escapes a relationship already on the skids to join her British, Stage Director friend Geoffrey

Maybe that's why I found myself among 20 naked bodies lying in various positions on a stretched white canvas in a Williamsburg art Gallery.
“Most men objectify women because they can't handle everything that a woman is. Women are mysteries, and the unknown tends to freak people out. So what do you do with a mystery?” (Marco)
“I'm not like my parents. I'm reckless. What did I like about Mar©o? I have no idea.”
“I called my mother and told her about our argument. Her response was unexpected.”
