The African Union's vision of silencing the gun by 2020 was conceived in 2013, at their 50 anniversary. There, African leaders pronounced their determination to achieve the goal of a conflict free Africa, to make peace a reality for all people and to rid the continent of wars, civil conflicts, human rights violations, humanitarian disasters and violent conflicts and to prevent genocide. In this episode, we discuss whether this ambitious goal is close to being achieved and what must be done to silence the guns in the African continent with Mohamed Diatta of the Institute for Security Studies.
