Ohio State would go on to be crowned champion after a 34-23 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. One for the history books, the first ever winners of the 12-team playoff exactly 10 years after they were the first ever winners of the first ever 4-team playoff. The game was highlighted by a pivotal play with just over two minutes remaining, when defensive end Jack Sawyer forced a fumble on Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown, sealing the win for Ohio State.

Running back Quinshon Judkins contributed significantly to the Buckeyes' offense, rushing for two touchdowns.

Quarterback Will Howard also played a key role, passing for 289 yards and maintaining the drive that led to a crucial touchdown.

Despite Ewers' efforts, including 283 passing yards and two touchdown passes, the Longhorns were unable to overcome Ohio State's strong defensive performance.

This victory propels Ohio State into the national championship game, where they will compete for their sixth national title.
