1 July, 1802. In the marshy eastern reaches of the Thames lies the Hispaniola, an inn kept by Jim Hawkins and his son. Late one night, a mysterious girl named Natty arrives with a request from her father, Long John Silver. The pirate proposes that Young Jim and Natty sail to Treasure Island in search of Captain Flint's hidden bounty, left behind many years before... Featuring a cast of noble seamen, murderous pirates, and stories of love, valor and terrible cruelty, Silver is a worthy sequel to Treasure Island - and a work of extraordinary authenticity and imaginative power from one of England's greatest writers.

Fun Read
This was a fun read. My E version came with a free copy of Treasure Island which I read first. [I had seen the movie, but had never read the book.] The author's style reminded me very much of Robert Louis Stevenson's. I recommend the book for airplanes and beaches. If you like Treasure Island, you will like this.
A rollicking read
Predictable, but still fun to read.. you just need a. solid suspension of belief. No need to comment on the plot--a sequel to Treasure Island. Young readers will especially enjoy this and relate to the major narrator, a brave and unnaturally lucky boy. Some violence, but nothing over the top, and no romance... just treasure hunting adventure. I felt a little letdown at the end. I would have liked a little more about what happened to the protagonist... but maybe there will be a third sequel!
A Finely Wrought Piece Of Work
Including as it does the original, (at the end --- just as one had the desire to revisit it), the comparison between the two is complementary. Neither possess aspirations to greatness, yet both provide great enjoyment for the nautical adventure that they are, and are well worth the time.

Light weight - does not have the engagement that one gets from RLS's original. Nevertheless it does place a loose hold on the reader's expectations of some reward. (no pun intended) For me it was something that I could read when I had nothing else to do. Worth the price but do not expect too much.
Beautifully Written!!
Superb writing. Wish I was as good a writer as Mr. Motion. Loved "Treasure Island," and this sequel is beautifully written. A nostalgic thriller is how I would describe it, and well worth the read.
