Today, I covered S3E14: Special Friend, which aired on January 13, 1985.

This episode of Silver Spoons kinda threw me for a loop, I thought I might have guessed Mark’s problem several times over, but nothing could have prepared me for the dark bomb Mark dropped on Rick.

Edward’s boring subplot with the Russian version of the Rubik’s Cube Rick dubs “The Communist Block” and Kate’s mad pruning skills “plant killer” while listening to Dr. Scott’s radio call in line did little for this episode.

Alfonso was a jerk this episode, jealous that Rick is spending all his free time with Mark as a peer counselor. He didn’t have to call Mark a nerd just because Rick wouldn’t play basketball with him.

I liked Mark and felt he was very reserved and he kept his problems and feelings close to himself.

Watching Rick as a peer counselor was exhausting to witness. He over analyzed his friends and family and was looking at Mark like another notch in his belt of success stories. A Quick Fix if you will.
