In their last episode before a short break - Jake and Tyler go back and forth on a series of "would you rather" questions. For example, Would you rather be 9 inches tall or 11 feet tall? What about go to jail for a year vs. being in a coma for 10 years? Some are light, some are heavy, but they're all a good.
In this episode Jake and Tyler discuss the idea of a creative block. Jake and Tyler are both finding themselves in seasons where they feel their creative juices just aren't flowing. They discuss what they think triggers their blocks and also some strategies to break out of them.
Do you ever experience creative blocks? How do you reignite your creative flame?
In this episode Jake and Tyler apply their interest in video games to their personal development journeys. A major aspect of role playing video games (story based games) includes creating a character and assigning specific qualities, strengths, and weaknesses, to those characters. Jake is currently going through some personal work with his therapist trying to identify not only his weaknesses (which he tends to do very easily) but also identifying his strengths (not something he is as comfortable with). The conversation develops into the guys talking about which aspects of their personalities they would like to improve, as well as the aspects they think are already pretty strong. They also discuss their different views on "charisma" and debate the line between being charismatic and being overbearing.

In this episode Jake and Tyler break down their ideal workspaces. Jake talks about how he recently reworked his home studio space and has learned that he likes having dedicated spaces for certain things instead of one space to rule them all. They also talk about the difference between a creative space and a more traditional work space, and some of the annoyances with sharing work spaces with other people.
Do you ever feel like things are never quite how you want them to be? Do you often find yourself frustrated that other people aren't meeting your expectations? In this episode Jake and Tyler talk about the unfortunate affect expectations have on their mental state. Jake explains how this is something he discusses in therapy and is striving to enact the mantra "acceptance > Expectations". Jake and Tyler talk about how they've grown up believing in the "American Dream" and how discouraging it can feel to think about how out of reach those ideals seem. Jake uses a simple, and maybe superficial, example of feeling like he should own a home by now instead of renting. He often longs for the "white picket fence" life but wonders how long it will take to get there, if ever. Do you think expectations are the thief of joy?

In this episode Jake shares his experiences as he starts attending a new gym. He quickly remembers the things that drove him away from public gyms but also explains how it has rekindled his motivation to attack his workouts with vigor. The guys then discuss their current goals and different aspects of fitness routine programming including exercise selection and variation, rep ranges, rest times, etc. Thats an eloquent way of saying Jake nerded out over exercise science and Tyler asked questions to fuel the conversation.

In this episode Jake and Tyler give their opinions on purism in the music industry. Is using loops and samples in a song considered cheating? Is a song made in a bedroom using software instruments any less valid than something recorded in a studio with real instruments if they both sound great? Find out our thoughts in this episode of Similar Vein.
